The creative imagination and craftmanship of Kingston’s College of Art’s postgraduate fashion students was showcased at this year’s London Vogue 7 days with far more than 30 designers unveiling their graduate collections.
The clothes were being rolled out in a movie, entitled HORIZON, which premiered on the final working day of London Fashion 7 days, in celebration of the foreseeable future journeys and occupations of Kingston’s style graduates.
The movie premiere is to be adopted by a fall-in exhibition at Gallery Unique in Fitzrovia on 21 September, at which marketplace specialists will have the opportunity to see designers’ collections portfolios at to start with hand.

Amongst this year’s cohort is Yalei Elena Feng, who is launching her model, YEF Studio, with a menswear collection. The array options a mix of conventional female and masculine colors, combined with detailing together with reduced necklines, slash-out capabilities and slender fitting clothes.
Elena explained: “My selection is made to empower adult men to convey on their own via trend. I want to blur the gender traces by encouraging men to feel snug to experiment with their design and attempt new points that challenge the regular standards.”
Brown and black leather-based is a staple through her collection, with pink thread and fragile silver generating classy detailing throughout the clothes, contrasted with a pair of pink equipped leather-based trousers.
An additional of the designers who presented their operate has explored the use of texture and composition in next wave feminist art. Isabelle Tustin has taken inspiration from feminine artists and sculptors who were being prolific in the 1960s and 70s to current a vibrant womenswear collection featuring elegant and modernist options.
Between her inspirations was sculptor Linda Benglis, who was known for mixing tender motion with good shapes and volume and has influenced the silhouette of Isabelle’s clothes. Isabelle, 22 from Guernsey stated: “They are both equally classed as article-minimalist artists and had been hoping to break absent from this masculine approach celebrated at the time, by employing elaborate tactics and modern elements in art.
“At the time, they have been ignored by their male friends and my collection reclaims and celebrates their artwork through style by creating outfits that make the contemporary lady really feel visible, powerful and empowered.”
A even further spotlight among this year’s collections is Zhen Tian, whose womenswear selection took inspiration from the lightweight and tensile buildings of architect Frei Otto.
Zhen created transparent levels of cloth to build a few-dimensional attire which reference the geometric-like shapes of Jens J Meyer to insert placing patchwork element to her clothes.
She explained: “I was fascinated by these summary architectural constructions and required to see how I could replicate them in my clothes. I recognize designers who make special clothes that are wearable art and desired to convey this through my assortment.”
Zhen slice up sheer stockings into geometric shapes and attached these with carbon fibre rods to create architecturally influenced products that sit on prime of the attire. A spotlight of her collection is a white silk gown covered in diamond styles built by stitching pleats applying honeycomb stitching, a knitting procedure that typically creates hexagonal designs.
Richard Sorger, class leader for MA Vogue praised this year’s cohort for the excellent of their types.
